The approach is based on a high resolution phase shift beamformer (Angle Recording Cordic Algorithm), the localization of the interfaces within the reflected echoes using the Wigner Ville Distribution and a pipelining approach of processing the echoes. That is, the backscattered RF echoes are collected from specified directions (defined by azimuth and elevation angles) using phase shift beamforming technique. This processing step is preceded by performing an intensity correction (due to attenuation) using a Time Gain Compensation Unit. Then, the signal is processed using a frequency-time distribution technique, namely, the Wigner Ville Distribution, to localize the interfaces and reconstruct the ultrasound images. The approach is evaluated quantitatively, by reconstructing by processing the collected raw data using a real scanners to form the corresponding image and consequently, the latter is compared with the original image that is reconstructed using the original ultrasound scanner. The results show that the implemented approach is successful‥. |
