Abstract:
This paper aims to present the contribution of the Dual Structure to the enhancement of modern higher education institution to become innovative and responsive to change. It is based on action research methodology that is collaborative and transformative. Forming interdisciplinary teams targeting innovative projects within the context of higher education would surmount the rigid silos and embrace interdisciplinary projects across all faculties, departments and administrative offices. Team-based work structure establishes a framework that encourages entrepreneurial activities and creates change initiatives for sustainable growth.Three Higher Education Institutions cases on Dual Structure are presented: the first one explains the approach behind dual structure as solution for the root causes of the case institution dysfunctions; and two practical cases applied Dual Structure in two private Lebanese universities. Kotters Characteristics of Dual Structure are identified in the two cases in addition to new features observed.
