Abstract:
This report is a summary for the 14 articles that are accomplished concerning the carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) rods/bars shear area strengthening and repair of reinforced concrete beams with the near surface mounted technique (NSM).
The report focuses mainly on the shear strengthening of: regular beams, deep beams and pre-cracked beams.
This report concentrates on the contributing elements of study such as: the characteristics and cross sections of the beams, the geometry of the beams, the adhesive or bonding agent that is used for the strengthening, the CFRP type that was used, the mode of failure and the ultimate loads (Pu) of the beams that were reached after strengthening.
Finally, this report is wrapped by a table of summary showing the overall results of this research and the gaps that needs to be filled by more researches on this uprising topic.
