Abstract:
This Thesis presents the dynamic model of the static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The linear state space model of the STATCOM is derived in details. The stability, controllability and observability of the STATCOM are also determined. The State Feedback control design is implement along with a state estimation. In the second part of this research, the STATCOM is connected to a power system. The power flow equations with STATCOM are obtained and performed on IEEE 5-bus and 14-bus system. Modifications are made to include the STATCOM. The proposed model is tested on Matlab using the NewtonRaphson method. Furthermore, a comparison of the results with and without STATCOM is discussed.
