Abstract:
Pavement and roadway design have escalated largely in the last decades. Necessary factors used in a regular design. The biggest transformation in these factors was in the modulus of elasticity E that was transformed to what we know nowadays by E*(modified modulus of elasticity). Designing using E* is so beneficial in a way that the thickness of the final layer is reduced. In this project a comparison between two different designs is done to show the economical benefits E*. Moreover another comparison is done between two different layers of PCC and HMA to show the advantages of each one using concrete and the other using hot mix asphalt. Finally an analysis is to be done to show the stresses and strains in each of the designs done.
