Abstract:
The current course offering at the Engineering Department of the University of Balamand is done based on intuition and is highly inefficient. A model to automate the creation of a course offering and to ensure the highest number of enrollment is developed. Automation is done through Java by assessing student data and formulating the feasible course offering. Student data is retrieved from the heads of department and contains the remaining courses that are required of students to take to complete their program. The process goes through all the feasible courses each student can take, taking into consideration the constraints and prerequisite of each of the remaining courses. The results of the model developed are the numbers of students that can register in all CIVE courses. These numbers are compared to the actual numbers of students registered in these courses in the same semester and in other nine semesters.
