Biometric identification

Abstract:
Nowadays, the recognition of faces has become an important authentication mean. It is a biometric method to identify a given face using main features of the face. Many researchers have tried to make accurate and reliable face recognition systems and several methods were developed for this purpose. This project describes an approach for face recognition using the Fourier Transform and polar mapping techniques. The overall proposed approach to authenticate the face of an individual is implemented using the LabView programming language and the NI Vision Development Module. Face images from a Well-known Database are used for both training and real-time recognition purposes. The results of the developed approach are compared with some other existing approaches which are also implemented using LabView. The comparison is performed using the same images for training and testing purposes. The comparison shows that the performance of the presented face recognition approach is much better than the other techniques.
