Abstract:
To be monolingual seems an exception in Lebanon. People usually try to be “bilingual”, and many seek to be “trilingual”. In fact, these terms are too technical from the educational point of view, for they only mean to the ordinary man that a person understands, reads and writes to so-called second or third language. Actually, we are accustomed to the use of many languages and our educational system has always emphasized this aspect in the different curricula we have had since the Independence.
