Abstract:
For more than 30 years, Lebanon has suffered from insufficient electric production. While the world is shifting towards total dependency on renewable energy, Lebanon is still facing the disastrous situation in its electricity sector. This paper suggests a plan of building diesel power plants and engaging them to the public grid. To achieve this, a supervisory control method (SCM) including a frequency control and phase control was introduced. This report analyzes the effect of SCM on improving the network's power quality and reducing the drooping effect of diesel generators. Comparison between systems including the new plants with and without SCM is held. Furthermore the effect of SCM on hybrid systems (with renewable energy) is considered. Simulation was done using Matlab/Simulink to investigate the proposed technique.
