Abstract:
Performing arts include diverse forms of arts ranging from music and dance to drama,
that are presented live before audiences.
These arts have historically held a pivotal role in the cultural fabric of Lebanon,
emerging not only as a form of entertainment but also as an important socio-cultural activity
where people gathered to attend plays and concerts. In the 1950s, a magnificent artistic
legacy of songs and theaters was born in Lebanon by the Rahbani brothers distinguished
composers, playwrights and directors. Distinctively different from the art presented in
neighboring Arab countries, they carved a unique style for Lebanese music.
This thesis aims to introduce the musical world of the Rahbani brothers and Fairouz,
highlighting the profound significance of performing arts in Lebanese culture.
My proposed project "Rahbani Brothers Performing Arts Academy and Performance
Center" presents a high level institution authorized to grant an academic degree and a space
that celebrates music arts and culture. Providing a hub for artistic brilliance and cultural
education is an important investment in the survival and regeneration of the performing arts
as a main pillar in the Lebanese culture.
