Abstract:
This practicum was part of SAQIRH project that focused on the planning, developing, implementing and evaluating an outreach plan for Amel Association – PHC in Karm El Zeytoun. The overall project aims to increase access to health services offered by Amel’s PHC in Karm el Zeytoun among people living in Achrafieh and its surroundings. Four objectives are outlined for the whole project: increase awareness of the center's services, encourage individuals to schedule appointments to check their health, encourage individuals to benefit from the PHC’ services, and increase the visibility of Amel Association and its purpose. As for the internship it lasted 462 hours from July to September, 2023 and it was held at the Amel Association – PHC in Karm El Zeytoun. The internship’s aim was to develop an outreach plan for people living in Achrafieh and the surrounding areas for Amel's PHC in KEZ. To add, the internship’s objectives were: defining outreach and searching for modalities, understanding the PHC's situation, and conducting a stakeholder analysis. During the practicum, the intern had different tasks related to doing a literature review, developing a problem and solution tree, doing data analysis, developing a service mapping and a power interest matrix chart. Findings of the practicum showed that an outreach plan needs a strategical thinking and interventions need to be prioritized according to their influence in the community. The significance of the outreach plan has been showed world widely as an effective tool to reach a higher number of people and prevent from diseases. In conclusion, this project was extremely important to the community because the outreach plan is necessary to guarantee Ashrafieh residents' access to the PHC of the Amel Association and their ability to utilize its services.
