Abstract:
Rashaya is one of the five centres of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Sidon, Tyre and dependencies, founded in the 16th century. The article examines icons of the churches in the Caza of Rashaya Al-Wadi: Our Lady of Deliverance of Rachaya, Saint Elias of Kfarmechki, and Saint George of Mhaidseh. They contain ancient icons, placed in the lower row of the (the Proskinesis). They are usually large, harmonious in their distribution: to the right of the royal door, are the icons of the Christ Pantocrator, and of St. John the Baptist. On the left, the icon of the Virgin and the Child, Theotokos, and next to it is the icon of the saint protector of the town to whom the church is dedicated.
