dc.description.abstract | Every country in the world faces major problems regarding civil issues. In Lebanon, one of the main problems the small country faces is related to road or traffic congestions. First of all, the lack of infrastructure is a major concern which directly impacts the routes people use daily. Second, the absence of 24-hour electricity is another direct factor impacting the safety and state of the main roads. Third, the entire country lacks proper funding to restore or even improve public transportation which could lead to a decrease in overall car usage. Finally, 80% of the roads present nowadays lack satellite coordination coding, meaning that the use of a GPS such as 'Google Maps' is not always accurate nor reliable. All and all, the transportation sector needs to solve many problems, therefore, this project will provide a solution to one of the main problems which are the poor lighting on the streets and the tracking system. The main reason for providing a solution to this problem is the alarming number of car crashes due to dark and unsafe roads which lead to the death of many Lebanese citizens. Not only that, but dark roads also have an indirect threat to drivers at night by forcing opposite lanes of the highway to be filled with cars having their high beam headlights on which could cause a blurry vision for the opposing driver and in extreme cases causing a crash. This project will provide an automatic street lighting system which charges during the day and lights the streets at night whenever sensors detect the presence of a car and also guides cars on many roads where traditional GPS tracking systems fail. | en_US |
