Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to compare the forced-based analysis versus the displacement-based analysis. Both methods of analysis were done over a ten storey building enable to emphasize the differences of these methods. The structure was analyzed using ETABS V9.2 for the forced-based analysis. All slabs were considered to be one-way ribbed slabs. The report includes the design of one moment resisting frame, a core-wall, a shear-wall, a beam and a slab. The reinforcement of those elements are shown by shop drawing plans. The design of this structure was carried out according to the standards of the 2008 ACI code. Plans, cross sections and drawings are included to aid in the explanation and to show the location of the designed members.
