Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to develop a software to perform computations for composite materials. The software, named "Software for Composite Materials Analysis and Design" (SCMAD), is based on thin plate theory to compute through thickness stresses and strains for a multilayered composite. Moreover, failure theories such as Maximum Stress Theory, Tsai-Wu theory, Tsai-Hill theory, Hoffman Theory are used to check ply failure. Finally, a progressive failure analysis is used to check failure in a multilayered composite.
