Issue Date: 2012
Abstract:
Fiber waviness in laminated materials can result from various aspects of the manufacturing process. The resulting waviness has a detrimental effect on mechanical properties, therefore this condition is important to detect and characterize. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of fiber waviness on the elastic properties as well as on the deflection of composite plates. The analysis is based on classical laminated plate theory and energy method to obtain solution for deflection of simply supported plates subjected to uniformly distributed load. A matlab software CAS was developed to compute elastic properties of laminate versus fiber waviness. Also CAS can be used to analyze and design of multilayered composite with and without fiber waviness, results for deflections, moments and forces were obtained.
