Regenerative brakes

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to show the ability to apply creative design concept on a two wheeler bike to get benefits from regenerative braking or what is known as kinetic energy recovery system. By studying the available information on existing braking system integrated on formula one cars and some other road car concepts, we were able to develop a suitable system for a bike, ATV or a motorcycle. The intention behind the design is to manufacture the bike and prove that is a cost effective solution to increase the range of the bike in an urban area since kinetic energy recovery system already proven its worth and importance in the automotive industry. While designing and manufacturing, the safety, the smoothness and efficiency of the system were taken into consideration to assure a successful overall riding. A finite element analysis, vibration analysis beside a fatigue analysis were implemented to make sure that the system components are safe and durable and no expected failure mechanically. The hope that the design will be improved further by future students to become more efficient, cost effective and mass produced for future generation, specifically for large cities centers where automotive transportation is not possible.
