Title: | Design and fabrication of a mechanical battery | Authors: | Jabbour, Elie Ighnatios, Antonios |
Advisors: | Saba, Nicolas | Subjects: | Energy storage Electric batteries--Design and construction |
Issue Date: | 2016 | Abstract: | In the 21 century, in Lebanon, electric power lack is still across the board and the electric generators are used to fix the problem however these generators have deadly negative effect of releasing pollutant into the air also some citizen are using electrical batteries as UPS system to fix the problem of the electric fluctuation however these batteries have low service time and have low efficiency. In this context, the wellbeing issues developed the advancement of different energy storage devices especially mechanical storage devices. In addition, engineering, designing and manufacturing have developed with the use of different methods, mainly with massive enhancement in technology. In this project, the mechanical energy storage technology will be studied and its development over the previous decades will be investigated, and after that two different design based on the mechanical storage technology are accomplished. The one based on the PSH concept has low efficiency however the one with the flywheel concept has high efficiency and satisfy the project goal. A prototype has been made to ensure the flywheel concept and to collect some data. |
