Advisors: | Gerges, Najib N. | Subjects: | Project management--Case studies | Issue Date: | 2011 | Abstract: | As we enter the first decade of the twenty-first century, our idea of project management has changed. Project management, once considered nice to have, is now recognized as a necessity. Organizations that were opponents of project management are now believers. Management educators of the past, who preached that project management could not work, are now powerful supporters. Project management is here to stay. This paper will address what project management is? How it is helpful? Why is it a necessity that project managers use the tools and techniques that accompany project management? To accomplish this, the paper will examine a few areas of project management and by using "the Four Season Hotel" construction project as an example that show why it is imperative that project managers start using these tools today. The contents of this paper will include planning and scheduling, monitoring and controlling techniques of the Four Season Hotel in Damascus. |
