Title: | Head control of a movable platform placed in a moving vehicle | Authors: | Mouawad, Jean | Advisors: | Haddad, Nicolas K. | Subjects: | Control engineering Dissertations, Academic University of Balamand--Dissertations |
Issue Date: | 2020 | Abstract: | The aim of this work is to establish a head motion detection system controlling a movable platform, applied in aviation and used to control the movement of an aircraft-carried object. The pilots head orientation in terms of pitch and yaw angles is measured with Inertial Measurement Units (IMU). A platform mounted under the nose of the aircraft is controlled in order to have the same orientation as the pilots head. This platform can carry objects such as guns, cameras, and light projectors. The system is designed in a way to let the pilot unconsciously control the motion of the platform while focusing on his flight controls. Results show an accurate detection of head orientation, and corresponding control of the platforms orientation. In addition, a live view of the platform is provided on a screen in front of the pilots eye. |
