Title: | Home automation system using beckhoff products | Authors: | Hawshar, Ghassan Abdallah, Jonathan Al |
Advisors: | Haddad, Nicolas K. | Subjects: | Home automation | Issue Date: | 2017 | Abstract: | This project is intended to introduce a new solution to the concept of integrated home automation system in both theory and practice. In fact, a thorough survey and description of this technology has been outlined throughout this literature. In addition to that, a full-blown implementation of this system has been applied. The project concept is based on an embedded personal computer (EPC) which will be able to control the entire system from one main program. Not only the EPC has been depicted as a standalone system, but also its openness and interface-ability with other communication protocols has also been tackled. In this respect, it was used to interface to KNX based demo boards via the KL6301 module, the PLC via KL1859 and the DALI controller via KL6811. The system contains KNX for indoor lighting and shutters, a plc for electrical power control, and a DALI system for outdoor lighting, all controlled by an HMI (human/machine interface) through the EPC. This project is the first home automation system that contains four different protocols in one complex solution, which gives it an additional value and importance. |
