Abstract:
This projects purpose is to present the concepts of KNX home automation in both theory and practice to the audience. Actually, I have outlined a thorough survey and description of this technology throughout this project. KNX is not only an independent system, it has the ability to be open and to interface with other protocols like RS485/RS232. In addition to that it can monitor separately system like security systems, be managed and controlled using a smartphone. KNX home automation system has many functions that provide comfort and safety against burglary, theft and dangerous intruders beside the advantages such as low energy consumption. Surveys show that the decrease of energy consumption in all KNX based facilities can reach up to 60%. Thus, KNX combines luxury services with high reliability. That being said, KNX presents itself as one of the strongest competitors in the market due to its diversity, eco-friendliness and great architecture.
