Abstract:
Ultra wide band communication is a wireless transmission technique in the 3.1-10.6 GHz band where the signals bandwidths are of minimum of 500 MHz. A non coherent receiver working on the energy collection basis can reduce power consumption, cost and it is less complex. It collects the signal energy in two time windows and the bit will be determined based on which window of the two selected windows has the higher energy. Detection, synchronization and decoding algorithm will be explained in this project using MATLAB. It will work in noisy channels. At SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of 0 dB, the detection miss rate of the receiver is of 2.1% and the false alarm rate is of 1.2%; the synchronization error rate is 0.5% and the BER (bit-error-rate) is 8.6%. Moreover, the durations of the synchronization and the detection processes are respectively 19.72 μs and 22.53.
