Abstract:
Concrete batch plant is a developed and a well industrialized plant, where concrete is combined before delivering it to the site using transit mixer and ready to be poured. Calculating the productivity of concrete in a batch plant is a very important task in the management the plant itself. This project analyzes the production of concrete batch plant. The productivity is calculated using two approaches: deterministic and stochastic. The deterministic approach develops a general production model. While, the stochastic approach develops two models: a queuing model and Micro Cyclone model. The queuing model is based on the queuing theory and Markov Chain modeling technique. While the Cyclone model is based on the Monte Carlo simulation technique. The deterministic and stochastic models are applied to the HOLCIM plants in Nahr El Maout and Kfarshima, Lebanon. In Kfarshima batch plant, the deterministic production is found to be 91 m3 /hr. While in Nahr El Maout the deterministic production is found to be 63 m3 /hr. Several graphs are plotted for different cycle of time for trucks in order to know the number of trucks required to have an optimum productivity.
