Title: | Seismic design of a ten storey residential building | Authors: | Baalbaki, Amal Sayadi, Taha El |
Advisors: | Naja, Mohamad | Subjects: | Earthquake resistant design Earthquake engineering |
Issue Date: | 2012 | Abstract: | The project under study is a ten story residential building, one ground floor, and one basement. Located in Tripoli Basatin and built on medium dense soil, the structure lies in a seismic zone 3 (UBC 97). The total height of the building is 33 m, with a typical story height of 3 m. Basement floor consists of parking and private stores with an area of 854m2 , the ground floor consists of guarder lodgment, and two apartments having a total area of 463 m2 , and ten typical floors each contains three apartments with total area of 463 m2 . Shear walls structural system will be used to resist the effect of earthquake ground motion. A Dynamic analysis based on the Uniform Building Code 1997 (UBC 97) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI 318M-08) limitations using ETABS version 9.6.0 will be performed to design the structure to resist the inertial forces and torsional moments caused by a strong destructible earthquake that is most likely to hit the region in the upcoming 20 -100 years. |
