Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to strengthen an old structure having the historical character of a Lebanese building. Structural elements in the structure are analyzed by using ETABS. The slab and columns design is carried out according to the standards of the American Concrete Institute ACI 318M-08. The detailed design of the beams and piles are presented and supported by relevant shop drawings which include plans, longitudinal and transverse sections. This report introduces the concept of assessment of an old structure threatened to fall, describes the status of the structure and provides guidelines on how to solve the problems.
