Abstract:
A lot of pedestrian accidents getting hit by vehicles on the roads is a catastrophic problem that is frequently occurring in rural areas. The best solution for this problem is to construct pedestrian bridges. This project consists of the design of a two pedestrian steel bridges Long-Span Bridge and Short-Span Bridge, located in Al-Koura region. Each bridge comprises a stair on each side. Deck thickness is 1.5m for the two bridges. The first bridge has a span of 11m and the second has an 8m span. It also includes a structural steel design of beams and columns, and two mat foundations. ACI 318-11, AASHTO and ASCE 7-10 were used for the design criteria and calculations including the load estimation. STAAD was used to model the bridge and to design beams and columns, while STAAD FOUNDATION was used to design foundations. A project management plan was applied for the bridges using PRIMAVERA.
