In this paper we consider the problem of resource allocation in a multiservice wireless local area network (WLAN) using overlapped code division multiple access (OV-CDMA) and via a centralised radio resource scheduler (RRS). A joint overlap control and power management (OCPM) algorithm is provided via the solution of a constrained convex quadratic optimisation problem. A closed form solution of the optimisation problem is presented. It is shown that the proposed OCPM resource allocation scheme is simple to implement in WLANs. Results are presented showing a total agreement between the analytical and the numerical results. In addition, it is shown that the solution of this problem maximises the aggregate throughput subject to peak transmission power constraints. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.en_US
