Issue Date: | 2024 | Publisher: | [Kalhat, Lebanon] : [University of Balamand], 2024 | Abstract: | As quality is one of the most important factors in healthcare, it is crucial to implement interventions, constantly assess the quality of services, and identify its relationship with other factors. Since primary healthcare is the cornerstone of healthcare systems, this project will be assessing three main factors proven to affect the quality of healthcare services provided. Based on literature, safety and risk, healthcare workers’ burden and capacity, and patients’ satisfaction, have been proven to have an inverse relationship with the quality of health services provided at healthcare facilities. Through this project, the intern assessed the possible risks present at a primary healthcare center, Shoueifat Medical Center, along with two other components, employees’ burden and capacity, and patients’ satisfaction. The aim of the project was to draw recommendations based on the assessments’ results to improve the quality of services provided at the center. The results were concluded from the data collection that was implemented using the Safety Risk Assessment tool (SRA), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ 18), and a customized capacity building needs questionnaire. The results of the surveys were promising with recommendations suggested for improvements, especially for the risks and safety component. From this experience, the intern gained various skills and knowledge, in addition, to using the theoretical understandings and techniques learned from several courses offered by the Public Health Department at the University of Balamand. |
