Issue Date: | 2024 | Publisher: | [Kalhat, Lebanon] : [University of Balamand], 2024 | Abstract: | In the medical education field, burnout is a prevalent concern among medical students. It is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a diminished sense of personal accomplishment. It poses significant challenges to the well-being of healthcare professionals, impacting their ability to provide quality care and leading to negative consequences for both individuals and healthcare systems. This study investigates the prevalence of burnout among medical students in Lebanon and its association with gender and education level. With a sample size of 123 medical students from various universities across Lebanon, aged between 20 and 30, we utilized the Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel (MBI-HSS-MP) to assess burnout levels. Our results reveal a consistent escalation in burnout levels as students’ progress through their medical education, alongside a noteworthy observation of higher burnout levels among female students compared to their male counterparts |
