dc.description.abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic has created new limitations and caused colossal dangers to patients' mental stability, especially those admitted to ICUs. This study examines the protective and risky roles of psychological factors in the COVID-19 ICU patients' recovery process. The study conducted qualitative research through semi-structured interviews with 30 to 40 patients diagnosed with severe COVID-19 and receiving treatment in ICUs. Key themes identified were the critical role of family and medical staff support, the importance of faith and patience, and the adverse effects of social isolation and existential anxiety. The findings further illustrate how the transformational nature of a critical illness changes patients' beliefs and values to become less materialistic and spiritually oriented. This research draws out the importance of comprehensive mental health strategies and overall care approaches in managing patients with COVID-19, providing new insights for healthcare professionals and policymakers. | en_US |
