dc.description.abstract"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever." - Jacques Cousteau The absence of an Oceanology center positioned at the very edge of the sea has different significant challenges and, perhaps even more notably, missed opportunities. This void in coastal research infrastructure not only hampers scientific progress but also representsa shortfall in our ability to responsibly take care of the marine environment. From a scientific perspective, the lack of a coastal Oceanology center limits our capacity to conduct in-depth, real-time investigations of marine ecosystems. Oceanographers and marine biologists often require immediate access to the sea to collect data, monitor environmental changes, and respond promptly to emerging issues such as natural disasters or shifts in marine biodiversity. Without an oceanology center, researchers are compelled to relyon remote data collection methods, often resulting in delays and less precise findings. Moreover, the absence of a coastal center diminishes our potential for community engagement and public education regarding the importance of oceans and marine life. Such centers serve as invaluable hubs for fostering public interest and awareness about the ocean's significance and the challenges it faces. Without this direct link to coastal communities, the opportunity for local residents to connect with the sea and actively participate in its preservation is condensed.en_US
