Issue Date: | 2023 | Abstract: | This study investigates the pivotal role of KM in guaranteeing the enduring viability of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Tripoli, Lebanon. Internal information exchange mechanisms within NGOs in the region are inconsistent, which hampers sustainability despite the large number of NGOs present. The report advocates for a holistic comprehension of KM's tripartite nature—individuals, procedures, and technology—to effectively assist NGOs in Tripoli. The study highlights the significance of tailored KM strategies in the livelihood sector, using the Sustainable Livelihood Framework. The importance of efficient communication, transmission, and enrichment of historical knowledge and experience is highlighted in order to sustain a competitive edge. The objective of the study is to examine the KM components inside NGOs in Tripoli in order to formulate strategies for long-term sustainability. The study reveals that different NGOs have diverse approaches to long-term sustainability. Some prioritize culture, tenure, and a people-centric strategy; others focus on process, training, knowledge exchange, and coding; while others rely on human communication and a positive culture, but faces challenges in standardization and technology adoption. The study suggests that NGOs should focus on adaptation, enhancement, well-defined processes, and effective KM strategies for long-term success and innovation. However, each organization faces obstacles, such as resistance to change, challenges in information protection, and financial limitations and is impacted by intangible factors like culture, infrastructure, and methods of communication. |
