| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | In order to understand the problems of French language teaching in Lebanon, this article explores the role of communication in French classrooms as well as the gap between the French taught in classes and Lebanese learners’ daily lives. This article also sheds the light on the banishment of the Lebanese language from school, on the absence of consideration for the multilingual reality of Lebanese learners as well as on the lack of instructors’ training. Therefore, the restructuring of the existing curriculum is needed in order to take into account the multilingual reality of the country and above all to put learners at the center of the learning processes. Therefore, the reform should promote communication and action; foster the essential role of learners’ mother tongue instead of banning it from school and provide textbooks that reveal to learners their belonging to the French-speaking world. | en_US |
