This project was completed in order for the intern to graduate and become a licensed public health practitioner. The intern worked with the Lebanese Red Cross organization in their Mina-Tripoli dispensary for more than two months, starting from March 6 till May 24. The internship’s goal was to organize and carry out an awareness session on hypertension in order to improve the knowledge levels of inhabitants of Mina who are 40 years of age or older. The intern prepared and delivered a PowerPoint presentation that included necessary information and preventive measures in order to achieve the practicum’s objectives. Additionally, the intern also created pre- and post-knowledge evaluation surveys with the goal of evaluating how much participants’ knowledge has changed prior to and following the session. The intern evaluated the effectiveness of the workshop by examining the responses to the pre- and post-assessment study designs. The workshop also included an ice-breaking game, a blood-pressure check by registered nurses, and referrals to the proper medical professionals. The findings of the project showed that the participants’ knowledge had significantly increased. This indicated that the attendees had acquired the knowledge necessary to alter their behavior in order to effectively manage or avoid developing hypertension in the future. This project was of high relevance to the community because it provided people with the knowledge, they needed to take control of their health, in order to reduce the prevalence of hypertension in Mina and preventing its occurrence.en_US
