dc.description.abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way of life of individuals on a global level. The initial studies have shown a negative effect on mental health, especially population exposed to lockdown. The main aim of this research was to study the effect lockdown has on the mental health of elderly living in nursing homes. This objective was accomplished by measuring the depression, anxiety and stress levels of elderly through the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale created by Lovibond and Lovibond, along with the Thematic Apperception Test created by Murray and Morgan. The sample selected was from the Social Services Association nursing home in Abu Samra, Tripoli Lebanon. The population consisted of 9 participants, 7 females and 2 males. The results showed significant levels of depressive mood, and symptoms of anxiety. Therefore, the lockdown did have a negative effect on the mental health of elderly living in nursing homes. | en_US |
