In 2011, Syrian Citizens learned how to be journalists through the use of their smartphones. They have broken the monotony of the traditional media found on the Syrian turfs. This thesis studies the impact that citizen journalism had on the media scene in Syria by comparing the news transmitted by Syria’s official media and the news communicated by the citizens. Having monochromatic media is a form of media imperialism as only one side is shown, but the citizens of Syria have fought media imperialism by giving their binoculars to the world through multiple websites and media platforms. Without taking sides, this thesis displays the content of both margins and shows the different aspects that each took on the same matter.en_US
