Diabetes is a chronic metabolic illness characterized by high glucose levels in the blood that can lead to severe complications. In 2021, over 537 million people were living with diabetes and approximately 6.7million deaths were caused by this disease worldwide. The main purpose of this project is to raise awareness on diabetes, its diagnosis, and prevention, through awareness sessions. This project was carried out at Order of Malta Khaldieh. Order of Malta is an international association that helps vulnerable people worldwide through its humanitarian activities. One of the organization's primary goals is to raise awareness regarding non-communicable diseases (NCDs) that are becoming the leading cause of death in the world such as diabetes. The awareness sessions were held the 4th and 5th of May, 2 awareness sessions per day. The intern prepared pre and post evaluation tests that the participants filled before and after attending the awareness sessions. In total 40 participants attended the sessions and filled out the questionnaires. The evaluation of the knowledge assessment tests, showed an increase in participants knowledge regarding diabetes.en_US
