Title: | Geopolymer mix incorporating hospital glass waste | Authors: | Mansour, Jack | Advisors: | Saba, Marianne | Keywords: | Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), Geopolymer concrete, Glass hospital waste | Subjects: | Geopolymers Engineering--Materials Sustainable construction University of Balamand--Dissertations Dissertations, Academic |
Issue Date: | 2023 | Abstract: | Cement is used as a binder material more and more often in concrete construction all over the world. However, the production of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) results in significant carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, geopolymer concrete has been regarded as one of the sustainable solutions that do not contain OPC as a binding material and uses industrial waste products rich in silica due to the need to develop alternatives to OPC-based concrete. To provide a new approach to sustainability, the focus of this thesis will be on the production of geopolymer mortar made from glass hospital waste, in which industrial waste products will completely replace OPC as a binder. |
