وعي الهويّة وأسئلة النهضة رواية ((وي. إذن لست بإفرنجي)) لخليل الخوري نموذجا

Abstract

نشر خليل الخوري روايته ((وي. إذن لست بإفرنجي » قبل معظم الروايات الريادية العربية في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر. وربما كانت اسئلة النهضة ملحة عليه فى تلك الحقبة من الزمان، وعلى رأس تلك الأسئلة وعي الهوية للأخذ بأسباب نهضة عربية. وقد عالجت هذه الرواية موضوع تنامي المدينة المعاصرة، والتمدن، والتحولات الاجتماعية لدى الطبقة الوسطى، وارتباطها الوجودي بالفن الروائي، الذي عبر عن التعدد في أنماط العيش، من خلال تعدد الأصوات، والرؤيات، إذ تقوم على التنوع الكلامي الاجتماعي والإديولوجي والتاريخي. وربما تسجل هذه الدراسة دخول الخوري إلى النوع الروائي بشروط شعبية، لا نخبوية، وبلغة تراوح بين مستويين تطلّعا للواقعية. ويصدر نص الخوري عن نسق ثقافي يتقبل الاخر، في إطار من وعى التمايزات بين الهويات، ومقدّرات كل ثقافة، وتحديد ابعاد المثاقفة الحضارية، مع إبراز الصراع بين الصفاء والهجنة

Khalil AI-Khoury published his novel «Way_ Idhan Lastu Bi Ifranji », before most of the pioneering Arab novels written in the XIXth century. Perhaps the issues of the Arab Renaissance, and in particular the issue of 'identity consciousness', were on Khalil AI-Khoury's mind during that period of time. His novel discusses the themes of the growth of the modern city and urbanization, the social transformations of the middle class and their existential connections with the art of narration. This art form expressed the diversity of life styles through a variety of voices and visions based on verbal, social, ideological and historical diversity. We note the introduction of AI-Khoury's popular rather than elitist narrative style that employed a language between the two levels so it could remain realistic.

The work of AI-Khoury comes from a cultural style that acceptes the 'Other', through the awareness of the distinction of identities and the assets of every culture, highlighting the dimensions of the cultural interchange, while still showing the clash between purity and hybridity.
