Abstract:
The icon of the two saints Symeon the Stylite and Symeon the new Stylite (or the miraculous) is important for iconographic studies as it brings together two saints historically and geographically distant. Its importance also lies in its narrative attributes which first appeared in the 13th century. It is representative of a period of Arab Orthodox and Catholic openness linked to the mergence of an different artistic school. This icon and its painter followed a particular style that mixed proximity and distance to his predecessors and successors of the same school.
