dc.description.abstract | This thesis aim is reusing and extending an abandoned factory to repurpose and reopen as a new sustainable shoes and leather products factory. Even though the main functionality of the building is a factory, the project will includes recreational spaces as restaurant, public garden, aviary, to welcome the citizens of Mejdlaya, also in contains an educational design school for whom who has an interest in fashion design and working in the factory. I started my thesis by analyzing and well understanding the site with its history, geography, regulations and its surroundings. The main challenge of the project is how to approach an abandoned factory building with an original architecture identity already distinct from its surrounding. I determined my objective, aim and benefits for this project in order to well know how to integrate the projects and its extension with its surrounding. One of the aim of this project is helping and encouraging local production instead of importing products from abroad. I hope this project will be promoting Lebanese production and helping in the economic crisis with a new architecture sustainable strategy. | en_US |
