Turbomachinery can be defined as the engineering discipline concerned with the study of machines characterized by the transfer of a moving fluid energy into a mechanical energy or vice versa. This energy is mainly due to the rotation of an element around a fixed axis. The main concern of this graduate project is the design of a major key component of most axial turbomachines: The Compressor. This part is mandatory for generating and creating the necessary pressure required for the turbomachine in completing its duty in creating mechanical work used onwards in multiple applications. The plan for completing this design project will begin with an introductory historical review about turbomachines in general and axial compressors in particular, then the basis for the analytical part will be presented in terms of the used theories and methods. Those will enable to perform the necessary calculations. Hence, having acquired the parameters of the compressor, a broad numerical analysis will take place in order to deepen the readers knowledge of the above mentioned subject. Finally, the difficulties that were faced will be emphasized in order to present suggestions and recommendations for further studies.en_US
