dc.description.abstractThe aim of this project is to apply sustainable energy technique into a modern villa constructed in Chekka in order to conserve energy. Various studies were made on the building envelop which was found to be composed of 51% of glass and 49% concrete. The dependent variable in envelop of the building which affects the heating and cooling load was found to be the glass. Adding argon to the glass was studied and found out that the radiation of the sun decreases into the building envelop. Applying insulation to the concrete was done and the variation of the new heating and cooling loads were estimated in-addition to the payback time. Study about solar panels was made. The sizing of the panels was chosen to cover all the required hot water that the adsorption chiller requires during the months of cooling inaddition to domestic hot water. During winter months where floor heating is required, the panels are used for aiding the boiler in heating the water. During months where no cooling or heating is required, the solar panels are used to heat the pool. In such a way, no excessive energy would remain in the system. The cooling and heating costs were found to be reduced, as for the domestic hot water it was obtained for free. The saving of the carbon dioxide emissions was calculated to be 6 tons per year.en_US
