dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the current security situation at the GA terminal of BRHIA, benchmark it against other GA terminals, and identify opportunities for enhancing the security level at the terminal so that it becomes a model for GA airports around the world. In order to achieve that objective, we have divided the thesis into five parts before reaching the recommendations and conclusions. The five parts cover areas such as a review and discussion of current national and international regulations and standards related to this subject and ways to implement and enhance them at the GA terminal at BRHIA. This methodology was supported by personal visits to the terminal and interviews with two heads of security for two different GA companies operating at the terminal, another interview with the previous Head of security of Royal Jet in Abu Dhabi, and finally with the Head of CERSA, the training organization for aviation security in Lebanon. The main conclusions and recommendations are to develop Aviation Security legislations/regulations related to GA to be in-line with ICAO, form a local AVSEC committee for the GA sector, build a security forces post at airside near the terminal building for quick intervention when required, conduct an informal security watch program with all pilots and business jets owners, and set up a computerized tomography scanner. | en_US |
