dc.description.abstract | The aim of this work is to study the feasibility of a heliport at the University of Balamand. The procedure will combine knowledge in both the aeronautical and engineering management fields. The objective is to study the renovation of the already existent helipad, to see the requirements for transformation to a heliport, and for other facilities that serve mainly operational purposes, and maintenance as for aeronautical activities. Based on the literature review and the different needs of the region in military and educational fields, the needed adjustments and requirements for the different uses of this heliport will be presented. Aviation regulations will be respected and implemented for any type of operation intended along with a project funding calculation and eligibility. Throughout the study, many points will be taken into consideration such as the development of the main University of Balamand campus and the need of an organized small airport for helicopter services. This heliport will not be restricted to helicopter operational activities, but will also serve possible on job training for students, military services, and possibly, a flight training school. The complexs objectives are educational and operational. Financial studies, project life cycle, decision making, heliport design, safety management system implementation and different managerial tasks should be covered and achieved. The importance of this study is that it allows us to show that this transformation is feasible and possible to achieve. It will discuss the idea of reconsidering the use of helicopters as a method for daily civil commute and not just for emergency and military cases. | en_US |
