Title: Effects of construction joints on the bending moment capacity with variable reinforcing ratio

Subjects: Concrete construction--Joints
Issue Date: 2017
Abstract:
This purpose of this study is to examine the difference between the bending capacities of singly reinforced monolithic beams, and that of singly reinforced beams with a construction joint at its center, over a range of several compressive strengths and reinforcing ratios of concrete. The tests are conducted based on ASTM standards. Employing construction joints in concrete structures is a highly common technique in construction projects. The construction supervisor is usually the one on site to determine where the construction joint should be used. Determining the effect of said construction joint on the concretes flexural bending capacities is therefore vital to the project.
