dc.description.abstract | The demand for a standard addressing system is progressively becoming essential to manage the swift expansion of cities in evolving countries, especially in Lebanon, where most cities deficit a functional and manageable addressing system. The prompt Urbanization and the expanding Globalization has resulted in a significant integration and interaction between companies, people, and governments in the whole world. In addition to that, the advancement in technology especially in geographic mapping and applications that are based on a location emphasizes the call for a standard and comprehensive addressing system. The absence of managed and efficient addressing systems in developing cities disrupts urban management and planning in which the governments cannot deliver urban services including transportation, water management, and waste management. Given the situation, the study inspects on how to create and implement a managed street addressing system in the Lebanese country that is developing and progressing swiftly in urban centers. Mainly, throughout meetings and interviews with municipalities in the Lebanese country, the study focused on several ways and strategies to implement a manageable street addressing system. Moreover, a survey was established to interview citizens of different municipalities to understand the suggestions and consequences of the old adapted street addressing systems. Finally, we established a street addressing system that is based on* GIS which is responsible for naming streets and assigning numbers to the building. The GIS-based system, more importantly, focuses on creating a database that includes names of property and landowners that can be updated regularly by authorities. The created database makes urban management more effective where public delivery services will be provided in a managed way. According to the analysis, we ensure that implementing a functional addressing system in a developing urban country should require all the techniques used in the Lebanese country to confirm the ability of computer systems to utilize information. Finally, the implemented street addressing system should be followed by awareness institutions to prepare and enlighten citizens on the advantages of the addressing system. | en_US |
