Abstract:
Infrastructure management is an essential issue for the growth of the economies and it has been facing many issues in the last few years due to the high demand for transportation. This research aimed at tackling one of those problems which considers the deterioration model of subway stations in Montreal. Markov chain a data hungry model was used to construct this model. The data for such a model were obtained from previous inspection reports taken at different time intervals. After the data is collected a transition probability matrix was built and then inserted in a Matlab code to get the deterioration curve. These curves are then compared to another model from a previous research called the predicted performance curve (PPC) which is a reliability model. After a comparison was made between the two models it was concluded that the PPC is more accurate and more reliable.
