Abstract:
This paper studies the application of the socio-economic theory as management practice bringing together the academic knowledge and a prescriptive practice to the reality of the organization. The research is supported by an intervention research experiment undertaken to improve the general performance in the regional subsidiary of an international inspection and certification body and to bring measurable outcomes. The socio-economic approach proves to be a solid participative intervention research method capable of bridging the gap between knowledge creation and practical advancement. The originality of the paper stems from the application of the socio-economic approach to management for the first time in the organizational setting of an inspection and certification company consulting mainly for the construction and public works business in multiple Middle East and African countries.
